PKGPilot may earn a commission when you purchase through links on our site. This does not increase your price and does not determine our recommendations.
Where we stand today
PKGPilot currently has no affiliate relationship with any product in our directory.We have not applied to, been approved by, or been paid by any of the vendors listed here. Every recommendation on the site right now earns us nothing.
We are saying this plainly because the rest of this page describes how affiliate relationships will work when they exist, and it would be easy to read that as a description of how things are. When a relationship does exist, it will be labeled on the product itself, and this paragraph will change.
We do record which products people click through to, whether or not we earn anything, because that tells us which partnerships are worth pursuing. See our privacy policy for exactly what is recorded.
How it works
When you click through to a software vendor from PKGPilot, that link may be an affiliate link. If you then sign up or purchase, the vendor pays us a commission — sometimes a one-time payment, sometimes a share of what you pay for as long as you stay a customer.
You pay the same price either way. Affiliate commissions come out of the vendor's marketing budget, not out of your pocket, and we never negotiate a higher price in exchange for placement.
How it affects recommendations
Affiliate economics account for 5% of a product's score. The other 95% is fit, value, reputation, feature coverage, and real-world performance. Our full model is published on How We Rank.
Products with no affiliate program are scored and recommended on the same basis as products that pay us. If the best answer to your question is a tool we earn nothing from, that is the answer you will get.

Sponsored placements
Some placements may be paid for directly by a vendor. These are always labeled Sponsored and are never presented as editorial recommendations or blended into scored results without a label.
Independence
No vendor has editorial control over PKGPilot. Vendors cannot buy a higher score, remove a competitor, or edit what we write about their product. If a vendor asks us to change a recommendation and we disagree, the recommendation stands.
